Tribute to Laura Tarlton, 1971 - 2025

Laura - You always made me feel so welcome when I stayed at your Mum's. We had lots of chats & laughs round the table for lunch. A lovely lady who adored her Cats & had a heart of gold. A quiet reserved person who will be forever missed.

Laura; A free spirit who found a quiet comfort in the phases of the moon, solace surrounded by her cats and the many who loved her. She had an earthly connection so wholesome it made everyone around her feel all that more grounded. She was always the person you could call on even at your lowest hour, she was the one who offered a sanctuary of understanding without a hint of judgment. Her support was a selfless gift, given freely even when her own path was steep. For me Laura leaves us with a reminder that the most potent magic in this world isn't found in her love of meditation and scented candles but in the simple acts of creating special memories together even 'sometimes' into the unholy hours of the morning What is remembered, lives. Our bond wasnt just one of family but one of friendship, built around our shared sense of humour and interest in bizarre subjects. I will miss the long conversations and stories that flowed into the early hours. Laura was that person who reminds us that relationships like these are fundamental to our happiness, resilience, and sense of belonging. She was the definition of friend. Whenever times are hard and the day is dull, we will remember that contagious laugh that can brighten the darkest of days. We will always hold Laura's kind, selfless, beautiful soul close to our hearts and the great memories we shared will never fade. Until we meet again, Sleep tight, Phill and family x

Laura, my dearest, oldest and kindest best friend. I will miss you terribly. Someone who never wavered in her support of me and a true friend in every sense of the word. A true soulmate who I trusted with my whole being. I have too many fantastic memories over the last 40 plus years we have been friends, some hilarious, some sad and everything in between. To my dearest Auntie Laura, I don't believe that I will ever find the words to explain how much you mean to me. But I will try my best. In many ways you have always been a role model to me, the love and kindness you have is something that I have always aspired to be. I've always thought of you as a mum. You made it so. Through the love and care you showed me, throughout my entire life. You taught me joy, happiness and so much more. You treated me as your own and you will forever have my thanks and my love. Most of the happiest memories I have involves you. You were always a beacon of light to me. I feel like I became the man I am today through your guidance. You managed that even though we lived miles apart. We used to watch films and play facebook games together, you are the reason I enjoy watching scary films. It helped me to overcome my fear from young age. I remember watching Paranormal Activity for the first time with you, I was so scared that I couldn't sleep. Yet you helped me through it and helped me to understand why I had no need to be afraid. You did that much throughout my life. There was many occasions when I'd come to you with a problem I have. Through calm and loving words, I always found comfort and was able to better myself through your guidance. You showed me what a family is. I have carried that with me and honoured the teaching you have given me. I honestly believe that I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. In my darkest moments, you brought me back into the light. Your words have always been close to heart. Keeping me going. I owe so much to you and I wish I had more time to repay you for everything you have done for me. It hurts so much to know that I can't. All I can do is honour your memory, everything you were and always will be. To use what you can taught me and pass it on as you have. You will live in my heart forever and I will never forget you.

Laura I’ll miss Laura’s laughter & her smile, like the times her girl friends would chase me and my brother around at her birthday party or at the silliest of things like the dancing sunflower I got her for Xmas one year that had her in stitches. But most of all I’ll miss Laura for the woman she grew into. She still found amusement in the silliest of things but she was also the person that would support and encourage us no matter what it involved. Laura always took care of everything and everyone around her, be it organising flowers or food for events or a person you could always depend on to be there for advice or cheering up. I will sorely miss having my cousin around.

She was a great mum, never let me go without and always spoiled me at Christmas. She would host Halloween parties for me and my friends from school with all the spooky snacks and party games, and for every birthday she made me a special themed cake based on whatever I was obsessing over that year. She was always there to give advice, but helped me come to my own decisions, and would support whatever decision I made. She encouraged me to retake my final year of uni when I wanted to throw in the towel, and she even supported my move to Belfast, as much as she didn't want me to go. She always tried her best to help others. There were multiple occasions where school friends of mine were having issues at home, and would call my mum asking if they could stay the night. I thought nothing of it at the time, I was just happy to have a sleepover! She was the animal whisperer. Took in spare kittens, cats from the street, and would spend lunch feeding the birds at work. Even my dog Peaches warmed up to her within a day, and she's scared of everybody. Managed to fly over twice to visit her grandson despite her fear of flying. I'm still shocked that she is gone. Unfortunately we didn't speak as much as we used to, probably because I've had my hands full with Louie, but she would still check in with me regularly to check how we were getting on. I still find myself expecting one of her messages to come through. I feel sad that she won't be there to see her grandson grow, but I hope to pass on some of the love and values that she gave to me.
